Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a hair restoration technique designed to restore significant hair density in a single procedure. Here, FUT is performed under the careful direction of board-certified surgeon Dr. Chetan J. Patel, ensuring precise planning and long-term, reliable results.
What Is Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)?
FUT is a hair transplant method in which a thin strip of scalp is carefully removed from the donor area, typically the back of the head. This strip is then dissected into individual follicular units by Dr. Patel and his physician assistant, and the units are subsequently transplanted into areas of thinning or baldness.
Unlike Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), in which Dr. Patel uses robotics to extract individual grafts one at a time, FUT allows harvesting of a larger number of grafts at once, slightly reducing the time and effort required for the same number of grafts. While it does result in a linear scar in the donor area, this is typically concealed by surrounding hair and is carefully closed to minimize visibility.
